Lemon, Lemon, Lemon….Whether you see it, hear the word, or smell it, you usually just can’t help but smile. Why? Well, it has something to do with the olfactory bulb.
From the olfactory bulb, the smell goes right into the limbic system. The limbic system supports things like emotion, motivation, and long term memory.
It is known on the emotional side as The Oil of Focus. It nourishes the mind and aids in concentration. The crisp scent of Lemon oil can improves one’s ability to focus, dispel confusion, and bestow clarity. It inspires a natural playfulness and buoyancy in the heart. It assists in releasing feelings of depression by restoring feelings of joy and happiness, creating a positive mind set. It can boost energy, alertness, and confidence!
Lemon is known to cleanse and purify the air and surfaces. Doesn’t it figure that most cleaners offer a “Lemon” scent? If you notice, some refer to it as lemony freshness!
It naturally cleanses the body and aids in digestion. It is known to support healthy respiratory function and help ward off free radicals with its antioxidant benefits.
I can recall, EVERY time I complained about a sore throat, my great aunt would make a cup of honey/lemon tea to soothe my throat…not only did it smell good and taste good, it was working to soothe!
Just a few more uses:
- Room freshener ~ When lemon is diffused in the office, the efficiency of employees can improve
- Car freshener ~ The smell of lemon can keep a driver more alert
- Hair tonic ~ Used on hair makes it strong, shiny, and helps fight dandruff
- Hand grease cutter ~ Use 1-2 drops on the spot to cut grease
- Laundry ~ Did you forget your laundry in the washing machine? FUNKY!! When you rewash, add a couple of drops of Lemon Essential Oil to defunkify your laundry
- Teeth Whitener ~ Lemon, baking soda, and coconut oil Rub on teeth for 2 minutes and rinse
- Face Wash ~ Lemon, baking soda, and honey
- Skin Toner ~ 1 drop Lemon and 1-2 ounces purified water Shake well and spritz a fine mist on face. Close your eyes!!
